Wow, what a great weekend. Lord March has outdone himself again at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed bringing legendary cars on his private hillclimb playground.
It is so refreshing to see the enthusiasm the British have for motorsport. This includes also the personnel at the track and in the paddocks. I couldn’t help but smile when I heard the lady-marshal asking the riders of the motorcycle batch to go to the starting assembly area with the following words: “Hey boys, ready to play?”.
We had a chance to meet up with our very own Glen English gliding up the hill with a 1982 Honda RS1123 – quite a change from his usual classic Norton race bike.
Also, seeing a 1938 Auto Union Typ D just a few meters from a 1997 McLaren F1 standing not far from the legendary Marmon Wasp winner of the very first Indy 500 in 1911 comes close to a slightly surreal experience…

Our highlights on the car side clearly were the great Jaguars that came out to celebrate the model’s 50th anniversary including the unique E2A prototype and chassis no. 885005 the Fixed Head Coupé presented to the stunned international media at the now famous press-launch of the Jaguar E-Type at the 1961 Geneva Motor show.

On a personal level it was just so impressive to meet the very fit Mr. Norman Dewis and hand over the very first watch of our E1961 Geneva Edition to this Jaguar legend. Also, it was great to catch up with friends and partners from the classic car world.
Here’s a picture of Norman Dewis sporting his new Scalfaro E1961 Geneva Edition timepiece.
